Stomach Question
So my stomach has been bothering me since Saturday. I get nauseated or it will hurt randomly, so I think I shouldn't be eating much (especially if I'm worried it's going to come back to haunt me, so to speak), but I get hungry. Granted, I'm starting to feel better, but really... what are you supposed to do when you get this way? Was it a good idea to keep eating stuff? Or should I have been fasting? Or eating something specific?

Hm... you might have a touch of stomach flu or something? D: Regardless, I hope it feels better soon!

I think in general, you're supposed to eat bland-ish things, like bread and soup and stuff. Yogurt can also help, sometimes. Also, ginger ale (or just ginger-y things) because ginger helps calm your stomach.

Haha, and to think I went out for Indian food for lunch yesterday XD But hey, I didn't hurl and I'm feeling better today, so that's good, no? :P I will keep the bread-y and soupy things in mind for next time though! Thanks :D

Ooh, I'm sorry to hear you're having stomach stuff. I think if you haven't been "revisited" by your food yet, it's probably not going to happen, though, so you're probably okay to keep eating. In fact, if you're ill, eating may help you keep your strength up, though you might want to follow a mild diet for a bit (like the BRAT diet- bananas, applesauce, rice, toast). I also love soda crackers and ginger ale on an upset stomach.

The other thing that came to my mind is maybe you're having stomach acid issues. I often had that in college; it was generally stress related. If that might be the case, you might want to try taking something like Tagament (this was what my doctor always recommended) for a couple of days, and avoiding highly acidic foods (like vinegar and citrus) and see if that straightens you out.

Good luck! Feel better! Don't hesitate to see your doctor if it gets worse or doesn't improve within a few more days!

Huh, why soda crackers I wonder? I feel like I've heard the soda crackers and ginger ale thing before. I did keep eating, though, and I seem to be better today :) I also did take a couple of Maalox tablets (which is what I keep in my medicine cabinet for acidic stomach stuff), so that might have helped as well.

Thanks for the well wishes and advice :D

I always thought that was for things where your stomach bacteria got imbalanced... although, truth be told, I have no idea what messes with the balance of beasties in my belly o_0 I'm better today, which is good, but I may grab some yogurt next time I'm in the grocery store just in case! Thanks :D

you might want to get checked out by a doctor, just to make sure you don't have an ulcer or something starting up.

Aren't I supposed to start coughing up blood if it's an ulcer? Or something similarly dramatic? o_0 Hmn...

not necessarily. IIRC, blood digests mainly into potassium, and high levels of that can give you stomach trouble. if you have an ulcer that's constantly dribbling blood, you might get something like this.

realistically it's probably just cramps or random aches or something, but I know random stomach pains can be a sign of far more serious stuff so I'd keep my eye out.
